Dieser Band versammelt dreizehn eigenständige Aufsätze zur Literatur- und Philosophiegeschichte, die einen Bogen von der griechischen und römischen Antike bis zur neueren deutschen Literatur schlagen: Behandelt werden unter anderem das archaische Epos sowie griechische Philosophie und Sophistik; das altrömische Buchwesen und die römische Historiographie; der Nietzsche-Wagner-Komplex und der "Zauberberg" Thomas Manns. Alle Beiträge folgen der kritischen Methode, die als historische, literarhistorische und philosophiegeschichtliche Kritik und nicht zuletzt auch als Textkritik in Erscheinung tritt, um den verschiedenen Sachverhalten jeweils eine überzeugende Interpretation abzugewinnen.

The Colloquia Raurica are organized every two years by the Collegium Rauricum. They take place at Castelen, the country estate of the Römer-Stiftung Dr René Clavel in Augst (Augusta Raurica) near Basel. Each colloquium deals with a topical question of general interest within the humanities from a multi-disciplinary perspective, with a special focus on contributions from classical studies. The results of the colloquia are published in the series Colloquia Raurica.
