The work in hand for the first time offers a complete edition of the „Solsequium“, a Latin collection of exempla, which Hugo von Trimberg composed around the year 1284. The edition is meant to help clarify the Latin writings of the Bamberg school teacher who so far has been known mainly to Germanists for his authorship of the “Renner”. Additionally, this book intends to define more precisely the position of his work among the collections of exempla, a genre, which reached its peak at his time and was deeply influenced by the needs of the mendicant orders.
