Die "Judenfrage" / Mikrofiche-Edition
Microform
Produktform: Mikrofiche
In the 19th century, hostility against Jewish people took on a new dimension in form of a racist and social-Darwinist 'modern anti-Semitism', claiming to be based on so-called scientific knowledge. Its paternity can be seen in Arthur Graf Gobineau and Richard Wagner. But above all, it was authors like Wilhelm Marr, Otto Glagau, Eugen Dühring, Theodor Fritsch and many others who, in their treatises and lampoons about the Jewish Question, founded a racial theory which later merged with National-Socialist ideology and, finally, led to the genocide of European Jews. Most of the anti-Semitic writers of the 19th century have long been forgotten and their writings are either widely scattered or no longer available, their effect, however, is still felt today. Some 450 writings on the 'Jewish Question', published between 1780 and 1918, are made accessible by this microfiche edition as a corpus of sources for research into anti-Semitism and prejudice. The edition is accompanied by a guide volume containing an introduction by Wolfgang Benz and a bibliography of the texts on microfilm.
