The theatre periodicals are excellent source material on the cultural history of the 18th century as well as the social history of the beginnings of bourgeois society and the history of its mindset. This work, divided into three index parts, is the first of its kind to cover German-language theatre periodicals of the 18th century bibliographically and by their contents. It deals with theatre journals, calendars and books; also included are periodicals in which more than half the contents are theatre related. Contents are distinguished both according to the type of periodical and the thematic focus. With the publication of Part 3: 1791-1800, the work is now complete. Each part has a list of contents for every periodical covered bibliographically. A differentiated and extensive index part meets the needs of interdisciplinary research interests. It offers 15 individual indexes: indexes such as of personal names, contributions, works of drama, critics, theatre history of individual places, theatre buildings descriptions, repertoires and ensembles. The contents of these individual indexes are also included in the general index.
