The focus of the book is on German speech act verbs. Moreover, the work also includes common verba dicendi, verbs used to refer to discourse-structuring acts, modal communication verbs and medial communication verbs.

Der Band leistet einen Beitrag zu der Frage, ob sich Argumentstrukturen angemessener über valenzgrammatische oder über konstruktionsgrammatische Ansätze erklären lassen und inwieweit integrative Ansätze erforderlich sind. Die Beiträge des Bandes beleuchten das Thema dabei aus theoretischer, empirisch-methodischer und metalexikographischer Perspektive sowie aus dem Blickwinkel des Fremd- bzw. Zweitspracherwerbs. Zum Teil geschieht dies in Form von kontrastiven Analysen, vor allem hinsichtlich des Sprachenpaares Deutsch-Spanisch.
