The book describes in detail, realistically and comprehensibly, how the people in Fukushima experienced the disaster and came to terms with it. However, the author does not assign the characters in his stories only a passive role, but through them he repeatedly lets confidence and humor flash. Special features are that the Buddhist view of life and death runs through all the works like a red thread, and that the typical Japanese fundamental attitude to nature experiences its revelation in the stories and their protagonists.
