This book was the winner of the 2011 Peter Lang Young Scholars Competition in German Studies. The author demonstrates the centrality of topography for confronting the past in this study of the work of Ingeborg Bachmann and Thomas Bernhard, who engage with the Austrian repression of its traumatic historical legacy.
