Neben Pseudonymen im engeren Sinn werden auch Initialen, Spitznamen, Ordens-, Geburts- und Ehenamen usw. aufgenommen. Die Bände 1–9 listen die Realnamen in alphabetischer Reihenfolge auf. Um die eindeutige Identifikation gesuchter Personen zu erleichtern, werden zusätzlich, soweit ermittelbar Geburtsjahr und -ort, Todesjahr und -ort, Beruf, Nationalität, die Pseudonyme, unter denen die Person bekannt war und schließlich die verwendete(n) Quelle(n) angegeben. Die in den Quellen angegebenen Berufsbezeichnungen wurden für diese Enzyklopädie eigens ins Englische übersetzt.
