Recognition has become a key concept in our times. Participants in social conflicts refer to them as struggles for recognition. Disadvantaged and oppressed social groups are demanding not only advancement in a material sense but recognition in society as well. The authors of this book shed light on the changes that have taken place in relationships of social recognition and inquire into the normative legitimation of demands for recognition.
