Anybody who has dealt with soil, that is with 'Mother Earth' all his or her life, whether in practice or in research, must come to the con-clusion that humus is a wonderful substance in nature, and an elixir for life. For generations, well known researchers from all over the world have been concerned with discovering the secrets of humus. Just 50 years ago the concern about maintaining fertility in the soil was at the forefront of all research. 'Perhaps a revolution regarding the cultivation of humus is just around the corner' was the opinion of some far-sighted experts of that time. However, in the years to come natural farming methods were left behind by the chemical age of environmental poisons in favour of base materialism.
