This is second volume of the Roman Temples of Samos concerning the peripteros and naiskos which were erected in front of the big altar of Hera. These temples are part of an extensive reorganization of the sanctuary of Hera in the early Roman Imperial Period with many buildings, which follow the old sacred buildings of the archaic period and their building tradition. The peripteros and naiskos are new buildings, but they do not follow the usual building types of their period. They are singular buildings, which pick up the sacred buildings of the archaic period in a very subtle way.

The growing awareness of the current climate crisis has led to an increased interest in the investigation of historical human-environment interactions. In this context, the micro-region has proven to be a significant category for ecological, socio-economic and cultural analyses. The present volume offers a collection of papers held in 2022 at an interdisciplinary workshop in Istanbul. They reflect on micro-regions from the ancient Mediterranean as spaces of socio-ecological interaction on a theoretical, methodological and empirical level and reveal perspectives for future research.
