This study explores the cultural trajectory of Japanese American internment, both during and after World War II. It also provides the most exhaustive biographical outline of John Okada to date and refutes the assumption that his novel was all but shunned when first published. A close reading positions the book within world literature.

Die Publikation „Let me draw you a bath“ stellt Bianca Kennedys Auseinandersetzung der letzten Jahre mit der Theatralik der Badewanne und ihren vielfältigen Ausdrucksformen vor. Seit 2016 untersucht Kennedy die Badewanne in verschiedenen Videoarbeiten und Zeichnungen. So ist beispielsweise ein Stummfilm, eine Serie von 200 Zeichnungen mit digital augmentierten Inhalten, eine 3-Kanal-Video Installation und eine Virtual-Reality Erfahrung entstanden, welche jeweils die komplexe Codierung des Badens im sozialkulturellen Kontext seziert.
