During the last fifteen year, passed after the publication of the volume "A Conchological Iconography - The Family Strombidae", by Kreipl & Poppe (1999), a lot of new knowledge has been accumulated concerning literature and distributional records. Additionally, new forms and species have been described. Pathbreaking methods allowed the study of genes, enzymes and proteins giving access to a better differentiation of the species, unraveling the systematics of the animals which produce those wonderful shells.
