The South African province, extending from Namibia to South Mozambique, is characterized by the presence of a certain bumber of endemic Conus species, together with a large number of species whose geographical distribution includes many other areas of the Indo-Pacific. Altogether, a total of 84 species of Conus have been reported for South Africa of which 18 can be considered as endemic.
