A Grammar of Bunaq
Produktform: E-Buch Text Elektronisches Buch in proprietärem
This grammar is a first detailed description of Bunaq, a Papuan language spoken in the mountainous interior of the island of Timor. Bunaq belongs to the Timor-Alor-Pantar language family, the western-most Papuan languages, but is surrounded by Austronesian languages and has therefore developed in isolation from the other members of the family. This grammar presents a synchronic description of the language as it is spoken in Lamaknen, a small region of Indonesian West Timor, on the border with Timor-Leste. The description is based on primary data collected during fieldwork conducted from 2006 onwards, including both natural and elicited data. Bunaq has retained the head-final and differences in detail that point to different processes at work in and on the language. The grammar provides new analyses and insights that are relevant to our understanding of the typology and areal relationships within the Melanesian region. weiterlesen
