This book reports on an operational management approach to improve bike sharing systems by counteracting imbalanced demand patterns. The aim is to redistribute vehicle within the system, allowing an “active” balancing of bike sharing system. The book reports on a mathematical model as well as data-driven and simulation-based approaches and combines them in a decision support system for service providers.
