This piece was written by the Swiss-Luxembourgian composer at the age of 80 for the pianist Béatrice Rauchs-Jenn, 'brilliant interpreter of my music', as can be read in the dedication. Breakneck cascades, abrupt transitions and playing in extreme registers reveal a dry humour far from anything merely appealing. Also typical of Fenigstein are the inserted speech-like figures and pensive moments.
