Annapurna
Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)
It was the Hindu goddess Annapurna who gave the mountain in the Nepalese Himalayas its name. In Sanskrit “Anna” means nourishment and “Purna” full. Indeed, the mountain massif west of Kathmandu offered us “full nourishment”: We hiked from Pokhara up to a height of 4130 meters, repeatedly stunned by the views of peaks such as Machapuchare, Gangapurna and Annapurna I, which towers up to a height of 8091 meters. This slow approach by foot, the effort the most essential things in life required, left us humble and clear of mind. At the same time, we became familiar with the power and presence of these mountains. This carpet arose from the inspiration of those moments: It was made by hand in Nepal in the traditional Tibetan way, with 100 knots per square inch, and represents the mountains from a bird’s eye view. And although only a single colour pigment was used, the silhouettes of the landscape stand out thanks to the differing use of silk and pure wool. The resulting interplay of light and shadow changes depending on your vantage point, bringing to mind the snow-clad mountains shimmering in the sun.weiterlesen
