The author is known for his excellent teaching and with this book he succeeds in conveying an intuitive understanding, often through the use of the many specially drawn colour images. Worked examples are included as part of the text and necessary equations are carefully explained in words. The presentation is relatively concise but nonetheless leads the reader right to the forefront of modern physical theory and experiment.
