Applied Fluid Mechanics
Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)
Intermediate Fluids Mechanics is the textbook for that second course in Fluid Mechanics for either Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering programs. The more conventional elemental approach for pipe flow, channel flow, and flow between cylinders is reviewed and the Navier-Stokes equations are derived and applied to several flow situations. The content is especially designed for civil engineering students (open channel flow, piping systems, turbomachinery, and environmental fluids), and for mechanical engineering students (the potential flow, external flows including boundary-layer theory, compressible flow, and CFD). The text is designed to allow students to better understand each topic, aided by numerous examples and home problems. Comments are included in the margins for better understanding by the student. Students often find it quite difficult to understand many involved concepts (laminar flow, the entrance region, the separated region, turbulence, etc.) encountered in fluid mechanics. Hopefully, these concepts are clearly presented. This book presents all derivations and phenomena in such a way that they are more easily understood when compared with the presentations of other textbooks.
