Architectural Acoustics ext.
between two languages new space is discovered
Produktform: Buch
This book presents novel ideas for aesthetic and acoustic improvement of our surroundings in form of acoustic panels. They have been designed and prototyped in the interdisciplinary project between architecture and audio engineering. The key challenge was the application of two dimensional standard materials, which through cutting, bending, folding or layering should provide an ideal solution in the acoustic and aesthetic sense similarly. The question was raised: How can we design our surroundings and workplaces taking into account the acoustic components of a space, leading to a concept for a holistic approach? Due to the different structures and folded designs, various acoustic panels were created. The absorption coefficient of each element was measured in the impedance tube for normal sound incidence. Due to the different structures like folded design, resulting air gaps and multi-layered elements a various amount of different absorbing elements was produced. Each work was put into an architectural context (elements on ceilings, examples for sound insulation, etc.), providing architects, designers and acousticians with valuable acoustic data and numerous ideas for further applications.weiterlesen
