Auf Glas und Karton: Gesichter einer Stadt

Begleitband zur Fotoausstellung auf der Historischen Wehranlage

Produktform: Buch / Einband - flex.(Paperback)

On Glass and Cardboard: A Cities many Facets Before photography, only a painting could depict a person. Pictures of oneself were reserved for the wealthy. This all changed when photography was invented almost 200 years ago. Within a short time, photographic studios quickly emerged in a lot of cities so that people had their pictures taken. At that time, the photographs were taken as negatives on glass or metal plates. The resulting positive prints were then put on papers which were then glued onto a cardboard backing. People would collect and give away these so-called photo cards. The photos in this exhibition do not just tell the story of photography. They also show us fifty years of our cities history, as well as telling us about the lives of the people on both sides of the camera.weiterlesen
