The papers in this volume go back to the 21st International Strindberg Conference, which took place in Göttingen in June 2019. They take up Strindberg’s ambivalent relationship to the Enlightenment: his criticism of it as well as his productive preoccupation with the philosophy and literature of the 18th century.
