Aviation in Wiener Neustadt (1909-1912). History on Postcards
Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)
The Wiener Neustadt airfield is the cradle of Austrian aviation. Here at the Steinfeld with its weather-resistant soil, ideal conditions have prevailed. Engineers tested their designs, spectacular competitions took place and world records were achieved. The Emperor came and for the first time the military aviation presented themselves to the public. In the period from 1910 to 1912, the aviators and aviation pioneers triggered tremendous enthusiasm, with tens of thousands of spectators flocking to the airfield on fine days. Naturally, there was a huge demand for memorabilia, especially postcards. Incidentally, this also created an accurate documentation of all events at the airfield.
Over many years of meticulous work, the author has compiled a very comprehensive collection of more than 400 postcards of the Wiener Neustadt airfield. They document its tumultuous development in all its facets, and convey an immediate impression of this great period of aviation that was just beginning. The photo studios and their working methods are also presented in this comprehensive work.weiterlesen
