Bahta Hegos 1840–1894

Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)

Bahta Hegos was a warrior of the ancient Republic Ekkeleguzay. First, at the age of 25, he led Ekkeleguzay in 1875 against the autocratic rule of King Yohannes. In that horrible time the king's autocratic machine killed nearly 250,000 inhabitants of the Seraye. This highlights the size and scope of the atrocity that the northern part of ancient Ethiopia experienced during the reign of the king. During that dark period, the king's opponents, almost all of today's Eritrea, tried to establish a relationship with the colony of Italy, obviously without knowing its strategy well, in order to oppose the king. Bahta was one of them. With time the king died unexpectedly in a battle against Dervish at Metema. And his killing machine also disappeared with him. It took Bahta very few years to organize Ekkeleguzay and turn the gun against the Italian colony. And while he was in action, he died in the battle of Halai in 1894.weiterlesen
