This book deals with the local history of Bordesholm from the first traces of human life in the current municipal territory to the present. A group of five expert regional historians explores this history on the basis of an intensive investigation of primary sources in conjunction with the latest research. The result is a volume written in accessible language that offers many surprising new insights. It can now be stated with certainty, for example, that the long-standing consensus which has seen 1327 celebrated and memorialised as Bordesholm's medieval birthdate can no longer stand up to critical scrutiny.
