Inspired by seminars with Dr. Kacem Zoughari, his personality, his extensive research and practical knowledge in connection with the classical Japanese martial arts as well as the wish to make this knowledge accessible to a wider audience, the idea for this book was born. It presents a selection of interviews and articles with Dr. Kacem Zoughari since 1998 and deals with various aspects of classical Japanese martial arts. It provides us with insight into the development of the author from humble beginnings to a renowned researcher in this field. For this reason, the articles, some of which are old, have not been edited and have been left in their original form. In this way, the reader can follow his development along the way. Dr. Kacem Zoughari received his doctorate in Japanese Studies from the prestigious INALCO Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales (National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations) in Paris, his thesis was on Tradition du mouvement dans les écoles classiques de combat du Japon (Tradition of movement in the classical fighting schools of Japan) and, in addition to his academic and research knowledge, Dr. Kacem Zoughari has a high degree of practical experience in classical martial arts, which he has practiced for more than 30 years under the guidance of his Japanese mentor Ishizuka Sensei.
