The contributors to this volume provide an overview of a broad spectrum of the processes and functions of poetic and artistic references to Paul Celan. They discuss different variations of continuation, appropriation and reminiscence, of affirmative and appreciatively critical reprocessing of images and linguistic and stylistic qualities of Celan’s poetry, of poetic programmes and ideals that have been reduced to congealed quotes. The object of interest thereby is the productivity put into these references for the dynamics of cultivating tradition in different media.
