Characterization and Numerical Simulation of Constrained Sintering in Al2O3 and MgAl2O4 based Ceramic Laminated Composites

Produktform: Buch / Einband - flex.(Paperback)

This work features a co-sintering model to simulate the densification and residual stress behavior of Al2O3 and MgAl2O4 based ceramic laminated composites during sintering. The model is based on a linear viscoplastic constitutive law that accommodates the simulation of anisotropic sintering shrinkage. Experimentally determined viscous and dilatometry data are used in conjunction with experimentally determined values for the temperature dependent Young’s modulus, the particle size distribution, grain growth, and anisotropic microstructural properties, such as the particle orientation direction and degree. This yields a model in which phenomenological input parameters feature a physical meaning. Thereby, the influence of material properties and microstructure can be assessed in a very straightforward manner. The model allows for sintering simulation of anisotropic, tape cast materials and introduces an interaction between the evolution of the grain size and orientation, as well as residual stresses that occur between co-sintered laminated tapes with differential sintering shrinkage.weiterlesen
