Markus Schmidt's study provides an important contribution to research into the ecclesiastical, devotional and biographical history of the Church of Saxony during the 20th century: the popular mission circle (Volksmissionskreis) spearheaded Saxony’s charismatic movement within the GDR and played a crucial role in its dissemination within the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxony.
