The Film Costumes of Barbara Baum

Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)

Barbara Baum is one of the most renowned costume designers in Germany. She gathered her initial cinematic experience working with German auteurs such as Peter Lilienthal, Peter Fleischmann, Hans Jürgen Syberberg, and Reinhard Hauff. Rainer Werner Fassbinder engaged her services as a costume designer for the first time for his movie FONTANE EFFI BRIEST in 1972. She worked at his side from then on until his death in 1982. Baum ultimately gained international recognition for her collaboration on productions such as Volker Schlöndorff’s HOMO FABER (1990/91), Bille August’s THE HOUSE OF THE SPIRITS (1993), or Marvin J. Chomsky’s CATHERINE THE GREAT (1994-96). She has collaborated just as intensely with Heinrich Breloer, designing the costumes for BUDDENBROOKS (2007/08), among others. To date, in her 50 years of work for film and television Barbara Baum has supplied the costumes for 74 productions and has received numerous awards for her achievements – most recently the honorary prize for outstanding services rendered to German cinema at the Deutscher Filmpreis 2015.weiterlesen
