Several different definitions regarding Environmental Citizenship exist, making the conceptualization and framing of the concept a significant challenge. This book will examine the existing approaches in promoting Environmental Citizenship based on its different dimensions in regards to other important concepts such as environmental behavior, environmental attitudes, environmental literacy, environmental education, environmental knowledge, awareness and sustainability. The theoretical foundations of a novel pedagogical approach promoting Environmental Citizenship will be elaborated.Education and especially environmental discourses in science education, has a lot to contribute in adopting and promoting Environmental Citizenship. However, the conceptualization of Environmental Citizenship in educational context remains an imperative need.
