Climate change is one of the most pressing global problems of our time. Humanity faces serious challenges, particularly regarding the reduction of CO2 emissions. Leading climate change researchers report on their observations of the effects of climate change in Europe, Asia, Africa, America, Australia and the Polar Regions. The latest climatic data is evaluated from both global and regional points of view and simulations of future developments are discussed.The contributions offer a well-researched picture of the changes in our climate that are already taking place around the world or which will take place in the future, and examine the consequences for the environment, society and the economy.The “Continents under Climate Change” conference was organised by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina – National Academy of Sciences as part of the 200th anniversary celebrations of the Humboldt University in Berlin.
