The dissertation focuses on using 7-amino-4-methylcoumarin as a photophysically active group in designing hybrid ligands and their metal complexes. Further, the functionalization of the amino group was carried out only at the 7-position to synthesize ligands and coinage metalccomplexes. The coinage metals were chosen mainly due to their d10 electronic configuration since fully filled d-orbitals were known to exhibit interesting optical properties. The synthesized metal complexes were characterized using standard analytical tools and investigated for their photophysical properties.
