Cross-cultural Encounter is an essential kind of human encounting in a world of globalization and religious-cultural tensions. Especially the ways of thinking in philosophical-theological fields – which of course spread out in social, economical, ethical and other dimensions as well – between the so called “eastern” and the so called “western” part of the world are quite different in many ways. Therefore an encounter of these two worlds is of special necessity. The two institutions Jnana-Deepa Vidyapeeth of Pune / India and the Faculty for Catholic Theology of the University of Innsbruck / Austria practise this kind of encounter on an academic level since more than ten years. This volume contains the papers presented by eight scholars from Pune and seven scholars from Innsbruck during such a joint conference in May 2007 in Innsbruck on the topic “Cross-cultural Encounter: Experience and Expression of the Divine”. All the articles on the one hand bear witness for the difficulties even to find a common language for expressing religious feelings and theological thinkings, but they on the other hand also allow deep insights into the global necessity of finding such ways.weiterlesen
