Analysis and description of flow around the ship, description of the wake and determining the unsteady loading on the marine propeller at straight course and under maneuvering conditions are considered as very important problems in the shipbuilding communities. Solution of these problems is necessary to predict the ship structure and shafting propulsion vibrations, which are considered as main factors in the design of the shaft bearings.
A new hybrid CFD-technique has been developed and validated to capture the turbulent structures and to determine the unsteady loading on the marine propellers under different sailing conditions especially under maneuvering conditions.
