Devi Stotras
Hymns of Praise and Prayer Vol. II
Produktform: Audio CD
Stotram is a Sanskrit word that means eulogy or hymn of praise and prayer, which is dedicated to a certain deity. Mohani Heitel sings all the stotras of this CD-series in her own musical composition accompanying herself with Tanpura. Most of these stotras were written by the medieval Indian saint Adi Shankara. Singing stotras or listening to them with undistracted attention helps to feel the presence of the corresponding deity, and serves to express devotional feelings. Mohani Heitel has compiled six CDs which contain Shiva stotras (Vol. 1 and 2), Devi stotras (Vol.1 and 2), and one each for Vishnu stotras, and one for stotras of Ganesha together with Subrahmanya (Kartikeya).
Devi Sukta - taken from Markandeya Purana - is a hymn of reverence and salutations to Devi who abides in all beings as intelligence and eternal consciousness. Kalika Ashtakam narrates the dreadful forms which she assumes to destroy evil forces. Devi Stuti consists of verses from the script Devi Mahatmya wherein the ultimate reality is revered as universal mother. In Bhavani Bhujangam (version 2) Her transcendental form and sublimity are adored. Kanakadhara and Mahalakshmi stotras are dedicated to Lakshmi, Goddess of wealth, fortune and prosperity, both material and spiritual. Saraswati is the Goddess of music, arts, wisdom and learning. In Ganga stotram the holyness of Ganga as Goddess as well as of river Ganges are glorified.weiterlesen
