Die Religionen Israels/Palästinas in der Bronzezeit

Ca. 3800–1200 v. Chr.

Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)

Rüdiger Schmitt's study of the Bronze Age religions of Israel/Palestine is dedicated to the prehistory of his study on the religions of Israel/Palestine in the Iron Age (ÄAT 94). The geographical and temporal space of the representation covers Cis- and Trans-Jordanian Palestine from the 4th to the end of the 2nd millennium BC within the borders of the modern territories of Israel/Palestine and Jordan. The presentation is based on the sociological approach of religious pluralism, according to which religious practice and the symbolic system of a religion show different characteristics depending on the social context (family, group-related religious practice, local or regional communities, political rule, and religious elites). A distinction can therefore be made between family, group-related, local, regional, and official or public religion. The structure of the study is based on this approach: Chap. 2 discusses the world of gods of the Early, Middle and Late Bronze Age, chap. 3 family religion, domestic worship and care for the dead, chap. 4 the work and group-related cult, chap. 5 the regional cult and chap. 6 the official and public religion. Following a summary overview (chap. 7), extensive analytical lists are dedicated to theophoric personal names.weiterlesen
