Digitalisation in rural and densely settled areas The volume addresses current topics concerning the spatial relevance of digitalisation. Against the background of general findings on digitalisation, experiences and results from the Regional Working Group Area of Hessen, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland are reported. The objective is to investigate spatial impacts and to point out management possibilities. The technical, ethical and social parameters as well as digitalisation policy strategies are the subject of the first chapter. Thematic focuses in this context are model projects in the field of smart cities and smart regions, housing, work, mobility, administration, tourism and health. The discussion presents the activities and control required to shape digitalisation with the aim of providing orientation, particularly for spatial planning and municipal administrations.
