Starting Digital Signal Processing in Telecommunication Engineering
A Lab-based Course
Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)
This textbook helps readers understand principles of digital signal processing (DSP) and basics of software-based digital communication, particularly software-defined networks (SDN) and software-defined radio (SDR). This hands-on, laboratory driven book aims to give an introduction to DSP and SDR where only the most important concepts are presented. All chapters are focused and accompanied by an exemplary program (or programs) showing all or most details of relevant algorithms. Students are tasked to understand programs, modify them, and apply presented concepts to real signals. Real signals are processed in the book, mainly speech, audio and RF recordings taken from RTL-SDR USB stick capable of capturing IQ data of classical FM radio with RDS and digital DAB digital radio. The complete software receiver of FM-RDS radio as well as complete Fast Information Channel DAB receiver is built step-by-step in consecutive book chapters. The book offers complete laboratory exercises with explanatory figures. Each book chapter is an introduction to computer laboratory and is accompanied by ready-to-go Matlab programs with figures and comments. Teaching is done by showing examples and their modifications to different real-world telecommunication-like applications. In the first part of the book, speech and audio signals are processed. In the second part, a step-by-step, a complete software receiver of the FM-RDS radio is designed and a complete Fast Information Channel receiver of the digital DAB radio is built.
