The countries of South, Southeast and East Asia are looking for new forms of cooperation with each other: politically, culturally, economically and in terms of energy policy. They have undergone enormous change, especially in the last 30 years, and are now in the process of replacing North America and Western Europe as global leadership regions. Along the way, they are repositioning themselves and have so far refused to be included in a renewed division of the world into power blocs.
