The dissertation is concerned with the entry into the professional field of adult and further education after graduating from university. In the framework of problem-focused interviews, the author surveys young professionals regarding their views on their studies, the process of making a career choice, and their personal professionalisation. The methodology of the paper is the attempt to reconstruct reality on the basis of occupational biographies. The author comes to the conclusion that the start of a career is determined by three aspects: Organisational framework, interactional framework, and subject-related framework.
