Female charakters in folktales and the code of social values
A comparative analysis of german and vietnamese tales
Produktform: E-Buch Text Elektronisches Buch in proprietärem
My research is an effort to enhance the cultural knowledge among German and Vietnamese readers. To German readers and scholars of the present, Vietnam is likely associated with the temporary separation of the country and the post-colonial war of the 20th century and Vietnamese folktales might be thus unfamiliar that still raises various questions. In Vietnam, the tales of the Brothers Grimm have been translated into Vietnamese since the 1960s. However, Vietnamese scholars keep the question of the Brothers Grimm’s life, in which context they collected the tales, how they published them and how the tales became famous and popular in the world a secret.
The question of how to interpret folktales and to establish their meaning has been raised among scholars for a long time. In the first part of my work, I attempt to answer the questions concerning the Brothers Grimm and Nguy?n Ð?ng Chi in terms of their lives, their collecting contexts and methods. The second part seeks to answer questions of interpretation of some specific tales of the Brothers Grimm and Nguy?n Ð?ng Chi. My specific emphasis lies on how people behave towards others within specific social relationships and what kinds of social values these behaviours reflect. In terms of method, I identify, compare and analyze main plots featuring female characters, also based on socio- cultural contexts.weiterlesen
