Austrian multi-talented pianist and composer Friedrich Gulda initiated the festival “Münchner Klaviersommer” in the early 1980s as a platform for crossover concerts. For these, he invited talented piano-playing colleagues with Classical and Jazz backgrounds. In these two programmes from 1982 and 1989 Gulda performs together with the Jazz legends Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock as well as the gifted and internationally renowned Cypriote pianist Nicolas Economou. Besides Gulda’s favourite composers Bach and Mozart the first concert features his own compositions and improvisations as well as arrangements for two pianos, which he plays together with Herbie Hancock. In the second concert Gulda, Corea and Economou play various highly ambitious improvisations on three pianos.weiterlesen
