Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)
This book (in two volumes) discusses two problems concerning the Polish-Ruthenian borderland, with a particular focus on Cherven’ Towns: the history of the region on the Upper and Middle bug in the 10th-15th c. in the light of the evidence of written, cartographic and onomastic sources, and the history of Polish, Russian and Ukrainian scientific studies on this region. A separate paper discusses the contribution of Polish art historians to studies on the heritage of Byzantium, Rus’ and other Orthodox countries in the Middle Ages, while an analysis carried out by cultural anthropologists presents the present-day in the Polish-Ukrainian borderland. The book also contains recollections of four participants in the excavation work carried out in the region of Cherven’ Towns between 1952 and 1955. Individual analyses are the result of an international co-operation of researchers from Poland, Germany, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine pursued within two wide-scale projects: The Golden Apple of Polish archaeology. Stronghold complexes at Czermno and Grodek (Cherven’ Towns) – chronology and function in the light of past and current research (Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Warsaw/Poland; National Programme for the Development of the Humanities; project No. 12H 12 0064 81), and The Elbe Marches, Poland and Bohemia from the 10th to the 12th century (Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Bonn/Germany; project No. FKZ 01UG1410).weiterlesen
