This book examines the rapprochement between Greece and Eastern Europe during and after the Cold War. "Ostpolitik," which translates to "Eastern politics," is used to describe the policy of conducting relations with the Eastern European states, including the Soviet Union. Using primary sources from Greece, the Eastern states, the US, UK, NATO, and the Euro Working Group (EWG), this book provides historical analysis of a tumultuous period in Greek foreign policy. The book first illustrates Greece's position in the Cold War confrontation before moving to more detailed analysis of the Eastern Bloc's policies towards Greece and Cyprus.  It moves then to detail the political party split within the country during the Cold War and the struggle for both Communism and Socialism to secure a foothold.
