This highly illustrated book is a compendium of results from the first scientific expedition to Heard Island in 15 years, augmented by a description of the expedition itself: the motivations, goals, plans, activities during the 3-week stay on the island, and post-expedition activities. It stands as an important description of this extremely remote site that is changing rapidly as a result of climate change. Heard Island is a World Heritage Site, but it has been about 15 years since the last major investigation of this rapidly changing island.
