Humanity and Inhumanity

The Photographic Journey of George Rodger

Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)

George Rodger (1908-95), together with Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa and David Seymour (Chim), was a founder member of Magnum, the greatest picture agency of the post-war era. Rodger's baptism as a photojournalist came when he was appointed a stringer for magazine during the Blitz on London in 1940. He then embarked on a series of adventures that took him to almost every battlefield of World War II in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. In 1948, after co-founding Magnum, he began a campaign of photography to rediscover humanity, travelling from Cape Town to Cairo by road. This book presents the pictures that define Rodger's long career, together with reflections by Bruce Bernard on each phase of his extraordinary life's journey. With a foreword by Henri Cartier-Bresson and 230 powerful images, this monograph represents a fitting tribute to George Rodger and a celebration of his life's work.weiterlesen
