The edited volume include evidence-based accounts of inequities in the arts as well as a focus on systems that perpetuate/resolve inequities in this context. The topic area is of wide interest to researchers and practitioners in arts and culture. The distinctiveness of this project is in terms of the empirical rigor that studies in the chapters are conducted with as well as the diversity of disciplinary perspectives. The particular benefits of this project are also the factors that make it distinct. In addition, the topical diversity within the edited volume and the synthesis of these papers are what provide the greatest value from the project, as well as the different “lenses” (empirical vs. theoretical) used across the volume. There is also a geographical diversity of authors making this volume attractive to a wide audience. This collection is the result of a series the Arts, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Lab hosted in summer 2022 on the topic Innovating Institutions and Inequities in the Arts. The AEI Lab directors provide the synthesis, making the edited volume an ideal volume for courses in the sociology of the arts, cultural economics, and arts management courses addressing inequities and new institutions for systemic change. weiterlesen
