One century after the official birth of phenomenology in Husserl’s Logical Investigations (1900–01), the philosophical outcomes that resulted from the progress made by analytic philosophy of mind and language within the second half of the 20th century – from Quine to Putnam and McDowell – legitimate a reinterpretation and critical reassessment of the main theses and concepts inherited from the phenomenological tradition. Not only does such a reappraisal provide the ground for a renewed discussion of some of phenomenology’s most fundamental insights, such as the phenomenological notion of intentionality, the analysis of meaning, the realist, then idealist claims that phenomenology has successively involved, or its uncompromising critique of psychologism; it also contributes in reopening the question of the relations between mind, language and reality, as demonstrate the works of Belgian philosopher Robert Brisart (1953–2015).
